Brooks Lab
Cory Brooks, Ph.D.
Professor
I'm a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University Fresno. I completed my PhD at the University of Victoria (Canada) and was a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) post-doctoral fellow at the University of Alberta (Canada). The Brooks lab employs structural biology and protein science to understand the molecular nature of antibody-antigen interactions. His research has particular emphasis on nanobodies and antibody carbohydrate interactions. . I'm also an avid rock climber, backcountry skier, mountaineer, trail runner and hiker.
Teresa Brooks, M.Sc.
Lab manager and lecturer
I completed my M.Sc. degree at the University of Victoria in Plant Biochemistry. In the Brooks lab, I train students and work on stable cell line development. I also teach part time in the department of Chemistry. In my spare time I enjoy gardening!
Andrew Manion
MS Biology
I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Biochemistry. I am currently working towards a M.S. in Biology here at CSU Fresno. In the Brooks Lab, I am investigating the binding characteristics of MUC16 antibodies to recombinant MUC16 tandem repeat domains utilizing ELISA and X-ray crystallography. Outside of the lab, I enjoy spending time in nature, exercising, and trying new foods
Yazmine Bedolla
Undergraduate student
I am a recent graduate of Reedley College with an AS-T in Agriculture Business. Currently, I am a sophomore and Smittcamp Family Honors College scholar at Fresno State where I am pursuing a B.S. in Biology. With this degree, I hope to attend medical school and eventually serve the community as a physician. My research project focuses on coupling Kappa VHH, a nanobody, to resin in order to create an affinity column used for protein purification.
